Flooring

A lot of thought needs to go into flooring when designing and constructing a sports venue. There are two reasons for this. The first is that some sports venues, especially the larger stadiums, are placed under unique pressures in terms of the number of people who watch sporting fixtures. This must be reflected in choosing flooring that is strong, durable and able to withstand a lot of pressure. The second reason is versatility. Most large venues will require many different types of flooring for different areas of the stadium. It is not a case of there being one type of flooring to fit all.

Whilst flooring can be stylish, the biggest priority must be safety. This is especially true when considering the stands or areas where supporters can watch the action. Much of the sports venue can probably be floored and carpeted in a similar fashion to homes and offices, but much of the facility cannot be. Special care must be taken in areas with swimming pools, as there are additional safety issues to be considered where water is concerned.

It is recommended that you seek advice from a contractor in the flooring industry regarding the installation / build of your flooring solution. Any companies with a history of working on sports venues are generally preferable. Flooring is not cheap, so even with a big budget it is important to get right the first time. It is worth receiving quotes from three or four leading companies and consulting health and safety guidelines before proceeding.
