RFL To Launch World Cup Tender Process
11th October 2010The Rugby Football League (RFL) is set to invite towns and cities across the UK to put themselves forward as potential host venues for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. A tender process is due to commence in early 2011 as part of the national governing body's bid to chose "appropriate" venues that will contribute towards the event's "successful delivery".
RFL director of events and projects Sally Bolton said: "Previous World Cups staged in the UK, particularly in 1995 and 2000, saw many of the host cities and towns benefit from a positive economic and social impact in their area.
"We want to build on that success and intend to stage the best World Cup to date. To do this we will be seeking enthusiastic host towns and cities who will work with us to bring the tournament to life."
A series of seminars will be held by the RFL in early 2011 to help explain how towns and cities can benefit from hosting World Cup fixtures.
