North Tyneside Council Refutes Wideopen Learner Pool Closure Plans
9th May 2011North Tyneside Council (NTC) has dismissed concerns that Wideopen Learner Pool is to be closed after confirming that an agreement to safeguard its future is close to completion.
Elected mayor Linda Arkley has revealed that operator Swimtech is poised to take over the running of the facility and will allow some continued public swimming.
Swimtech plans to use Wideopen Learner Pool as a base for swimming lessons for adults, school and pre-school users, as well as providing limited exercise classes.
Arkley said: "Our discussions with potential operators have focused on providing Wideopen Pool with a new lease of life."
