Chelsea Piers Starts Work On Sports And Entertainment Complex In Connecticut

Dundalk leisure resortChelsea Piers Management has announced the start of construction work on a 400,000sq ft (37,161sq m) sports complex in Stamford, Connecticut, US - Chelsea Piers Connecticut.

The venue will feature two National Hockey League (NHL)-regulation ice rinks; turf fields for soccer, lacrosse, American Football and field hockey; and seven tennis courts.

A 20,000sq ft (1,858sq m) gymnastics centre; an aquatic complex with Olympic-sized pool; 12 squash courts; a trampoline centre; and a baseball/softball training area are also planned.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut will also offer instruction and league programmes across a wide range of sports and is due to open its doors in June 2012.

David Tewksbury, co-founder of Chelsea Piers New York sports and entertainment complex, will also act as president of the Chelsea Piers Connecticut facility.

"Fairfield County is in the heart of a growing community of sports enthusiasts and we're looking forward to serving athletes of all ages from the tri-state region," he said.
