Bristol City Stadium Petition Tops 30,000
25th March 2011Bristol City Supporters Trust’s petition in support of the football club’s new stadium project has now topped 30,000 signatures. That was the initial target announced by the club and supporters when the petition was first set-up in September. The ‘A City United’ national campaign was launched after a report recommended all 42 acres of the proposed Ashton Vale site be declared a Town and Village Green.
City’s business development director Guy Price said on bcfc.co.uk: “It’s great to see that the 30,000 target for the Supporters Trust new stadium petition has been achieved. This is a massive statement of support for the stadium plans. It’s a very significant milestone, all the more so because it has been made possible by the club’s grass-roots supporters, many thousands of whom belong to the local community in South Bristol. The petition shows that the people of Bristol – football supporters and non-football supporters alike – want a world-class stadium that the whole city can be proud of.
“The stadium will deliver a timely boost for South Bristol, bringing jobs, employment opportunities, regeneration and investment,” he added.
